The First participant for RIZIN FIGHTING WORLD GRAND-PRIX has been determined! Reports from the always exciting JUNGLE FIGHT 82!

On the 24th of October, Wallid Ismail owned JUNGLE FIGHT 82 was held at the Esporte Clube Sirio in San Paulo Brazil. RIZIN Executive Committee Chairman Nobuyuki Sakakibara flew in to watch the event. As the event went live, Sakakibara appeared in the cage and greeted the spectators in Portuguese “I thank all the Brazilian fans”, which had the crowd on their feet.

The focus on the event was the JUNGLE FIGHT 100kg title fight between Bruno Cappelozza and Sandro Da Silva, the fight which will determine who will be participating in the RIZIN FIGHTING WORLD GRAND-PRIX.

Promoter Wallid’s recommended fighter Cappelozza opens up the fight with powerful kicks to Sandro’s lead leg. Sandro refusing to trade, closes distance and clinches his opponent to the fence. Cappeloza takes Sandro to the ground and after ground and pound, Sandro suffers a cut, and the referee stops the bout for a doctor’s check. After the fight is cleared to resume, Cappelozza shows no mercy and immediately rushes in and swarms his opponent with barrage of strikes. The referee calls the fight after Sandro turtles up with Cappelozza continuously dropping heavy ground and pound at 4 minutes 21 seconds in the 1st round. Sakakibara steps in the cage to wrap the belt around the emotional new champion. Brazilians such as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria, Wanderlei Silva, Marucio Shogun, have all fought in Japan and were introduced to stardom, and Cappelozza has captured the same opportunity in his hands.

During this event, there were many other exciting fights, and especially for the local San Paulo fighters, the fans gave them the great, Brazilian cheer. Chairman Sakakibara, who visited the event voiced his opinion.

RIZIN Executive Committee Chairman Nobuyuki Sakakibara
“I was amazed with the level of fighters participating in JUNGLE FIGHT and how aggressive and exciting they were. I think that Bruno Cappelozza will be a fantastic addition to our event. His style will be well received by the Japanese fans, and I think that he has the potential of winning the whole tournament. I was very happy to see and feel that the Brazilian MMA fans who were at the event are wanting Japanese MMA to succeed, and at the same time I feel a lot of responsibility.”
