Battle between 2 great strikers! “I want to show that geeks can be tough” DJ Taiki interview

It has been confirmed that DJ Taiki will be facing street fighting bancho Hiroyuki Takaya. This is a fight between 2 decorated strikers but DJ declares victory, “I want to show that a geeky looking guy can beat a mean looking guy”. He also talks about his “official” pink jacket.

So please tell us about your “official” pink jacket and head band

This is what I wear whenever I go to Yukarin’s (voice actress) concert. Apparently this is becoming popular among my fans too. I join Yukarin’s fan club 4 years ago. I was going to retire after my last fight, but the reason that I will be fighting again in RIZIN is because of Yukarin.

When did you get an offer from RIZIN

It was rumored that there will be a big event on New Year’s Eve right after my last fight, and once it was announced, we started talking. My spirits were down after my defeat but I was able to meet with Yukarin and she cheered me up, she might even come watch me fight live so that is my current motivation.

What is your training plans and your impression on Hiroyuki Takaya

I’m going to US for a 5 week fight camp. My coach who I respect very much will handle the menu so I’m not sure what I will be doing yet. Takaya has very powerful striking. I’m debating rather to set up a game plan or not, because for my last fight, I found out who I will be fighting 2 days prior to the fight and I adjusted pretty well. But that is all up to my coach. If I lose under his decision I will have no regret.

What do you want to show the fans

I want to people to witness that geeky looking guys can be tough. I want to show them that you can stay confident in front of a bully. I lost my last fight, so I want to redeem myself by winning in front of Yukarin and 20,000 Yukari Kingdom citizens.
